Gugging Gallery

Description

galerie gugging is a hotspot of the art brut scene and a place that has always been sought out by artists, collectors and art lovers as a source of inspiration. A particularly important concern of the gallery is to promote as yet unknown artists.

In 1994, the now established galerie gugging was founded to present and sell the works of "artists from Gugging". galerie gugging's core competence is Art Brut, which Jean Dubuffet defined as the unadorned, raw art of self-taught artists. We cooperate with renowned galleries and museums worldwide and since 2009, works by internationally recognized Art Brut artists and contemporaries close to this style have been presented alongside the works of the "Artists from Gugging".

The galerie gugging itself hosts four exhibitions a year, which are accompanied by a catalog and provide an overview of the artists' diverse oeuvre as well as current events on site. The gallery is also represented at fairs such as the Outsider Art Fair in New York, Drawing Now in Paris and SCOPE in Basel.

Works by the "artists from Gugging" have always inspired great musicians such as David Bowie, who released his album "Outside" after a visit to the artists' house and included works by the artists in his collection.

With the "galerie gugging special edition", galerie gugging increasingly opened up to new music genres and art forms in 2017. Guest musicians and concertgoers are offered a unique artistic setting amidst the works of Gugging artists, and works composed especially for this venue are repeatedly premiered, such as "Paradise Lost" by Christopher Chaplin or "Sensitive Figure" by Lukas Lauermann. galerie gugging is located in a wonderful setting in the middle of the Vienna Woods. It is a place of tranquillity and at the same time a very creative environment where artists work every day and new works are created. We see the galerie gugging as an "oasis for the soul", where you can recharge your batteries and not only enjoy the art, but also get to know the artists at the place of creation and exchange ideas with them.
